Today is October 25th - the Feast of St. Crispin - a day that is filled with historical significance.
From the Wikipedia: It is a day most famous for the battles that occurred on it: the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the Battle of Balaklava (Charge of the Light Brigade) during the Crimean War in 1854 and the Battle of Leyte Gulf in the Pacific theatre in 1944.
Perhaps we can take inspiration from the example of a small group going up against great odds and gaining victory through great teamwork!
Kenneth Branaugh performed the finest modern film version of Shakespeare's “Henry V” - the original source of the phrase "Band of Brothers".
A movie called "Renaissance Man" had a moving excerpt of the soliloquy with a drill sergeant harassing a recruit (you would have to see the movie to properly frame this scene).
The main text of the speech.
There is a reason why half of the quotes that you hear are usually from a religious text or William Shakespeare. While many still call into question the authorship of his plays, perhaps this is an opportunity to appreciate why people still care about them. And remember – he wrote them to entertain the people of London (very successfully), not to be “classics” to bore generations of students yet unborn.
