2005 (Spring)

Team Unlimited was founded by a group of Sharon Middle School 6th graders (now all attending the colleges of their choice), competing in the 2002 "City Sights" FLL challenge.  Team Unlimited takes its name from the 2005 "No Limits" FLL challenge, and later the same season participated in the demo FIRST Vex Challenge competition in Atlanta.  Team Unlimited has competed in each FVC and FTC season from the demo competition in Spring 2005, in both New England and Atlanta, and has competed at the World Championships in the past 6 seasons.  The team achieved the Inspire and Winning Alliance awards in Massachusetts in the 2006/7 season, and Inspire and Finalist Alliance awards for Massachusetts both the 2007/8 and 2008/9 seasons. In all three seasons, Team Unlimited was a finalist for the Inspire award at the World Championships.  Team Unlimited was honored with a "Unlimited Potential" Judges Award at the 2008/9 World Championship.

The 2009-10 season saw Team Unlimited reborn with a group of SHS Freshman and Sophomores taking the lead as the new squad.  They were very successful, captaining the winning alliance in CT, and winning the Connect Award at the FTC World Championship in Atlanta. Team Unlimited lives!

The 2010-11 season has continued Team Unlimited's success, bringing new members to the fold.  Qualifying for the MA FTC Championship with the Inspire award at the BU qualifier, the team focused on providing help desk services at the succeeding competitions.  The team was honored to receive the CT FTC State Championship Inspire Award.  The team captained the Winning Alliance at the MA FTC State Championship (with our good friends the Lexington MITIbots and the Sharon Myotonics), and won the Connect Award (and were finalists for the Innovate, PTC Design, Think and Inspire Awards).  The World Championship in St. Louis was a great experience!

The 2011-12 season brought us new members, new coaches and new challenges.  We continued our focus on volunteering services for help desks and inspections, as well as workshop presentations and community outreach.  We qualified for the MA State FTC Championship at the North Andover competition as part of the winning alliance, and received the PTC Design Award.  We also received the PTC Design Award at the CT State FTC Championship.  At the MA State FTC Championship, we were recognized with the Inspire Award, which led to our 9th consecutive trip to the FTC World Championship.  We also graduated our second group of team members - Anna, Hannah, Rohit and Vivek - we wish them every success in their future careers!

The 2012-13 season was an exciting one - with a fantastic new challenge that keeps the action on the field going all the time!  We continued our usual volunteer efforts (both FLL and FTC) and stayed active in scrimmages and competitions.  We received the Rockwell Collins Innovate Award and were part of the finalist alliance at the Arlington Qualifier, and advanced to the MA State FTC Championship after captaining the Winning Alliance at the Andover Qualifier (and won the Connect Award).  We won the Rockwell Collins Innovate Award at the VT State FTC Championship, and the PTC Design Award at the MA State FTC Championship.  Unfortunately, we did not advance to the FTC World Championship this season, so our record will stand at nine seasons.  We are graduating our third set of teammates - our best wishes for their futures go to Dan, Divya, Frank, Puya and Rahul!

Team Unlimited focuses heavily on mentoring and volunteering for FIRST programs.  In Sharon, we mentor as many as a dozen teams each season, and hold a small Invitational FLL tournament.  We volunteer as refs, judges etc in the various MA FLL venues.  In RI, we have helped to mentor the successful NEIT-sponsored FTC program, from kickoff and workshops to the field in the RI Championship.  We have extended our support to our friends in the renewed CT FTC program.  We try to make resources available through workshops, forums and our websites to both FLL and FTC teams, and enjoy virtual contacts far beyond our geographic area.  We can be reached at

We look forward to meeting the 2013-14 FIRST Tech Challenge!
